Experience the Frankston Waterfront like never before at the Frankston Waterfront Festival 2013.

With loads of fun for the whole family the Frankston Waterfront festival promises to be a great weekend.

The beach will come alive with loads of FREE come and try activities for people of all ages. Have a go at stand up paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing, scuba diving and out rigging.

Visit the Festival’s Challenge Arena and have a go at swing dance, martial arts, tai chi, and a range of other activities. Watch the demonstrations then jump in and try them out for yourself.

After all that activity it might be time to relax and chill out and enjoy the music at the Live ‘n’ Local stage in the centre of the festival. Relax to the tunes of local artists including Jeff Atchison and the Soul Diggers, Red Alert, Alanna Deutrom and The Dirty Boogie Band who will play a range of well known songs across the festival weekend.

Feeling a little hungry? Why not tantalise your tastebuds and relax with family and friends and a range of gourmet food from across the region. Sponsored by Boost Juice, we once again offer a wide range of foods, from sweet to spicy and savoury along with quality coffee vendors.

Then wash it all down with a cold drink at the Bear and Wine Garden. Ideally located near the entertainment stage local 2 Brothers Brewery will sell their boutique beers and wines for you to quench your thirst and enjoy. This is the perfect spot to sit back and relax in the sun whilst enjoying the entertainment.

While you’re at the festival come and experience some of Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula’s best tourism businesses including food, wine, art attractions and more. Sample some of the amazing local products on offer, and place an order.

If you have time, make sure you visit the Eden Gardens display where children are able to plant their own edible pot plant to take home.

Across the highway at the recently redeveloped Mechanics Hall see the Peninsula Arts Society and Friends exhibition. The display will include a range of patchworks, woodturning, embroidery, jewellery and more. Enjoy a refreshment and maybe take home a gift for someone special.

Back at the festival site come and see the wonders of our beautiful natural environment. With displays from Melbourne Downunder and from our local Friends Groups, this is a great chance to learn more about the hidden wonders of this beautiful part of Australia. The Saturday night of the Festival will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display over Port Phillip Bay at 9:30pm. Don’t miss it as the sky lights up and the bay shimmers with the amazing lights and colours.

Pelican Park Recreation Centre is pleased to host a range of activities inspired by the 2012 Olympic Games.

Pelican Pete’s Olympics Challenge*

In teams, you will participate in a series of Olympic inspired pool events; rowing, athletics and volleyball. Points are awarded for each challenge to determine the winners for the Presentation Ceremony.

Here is your opportunity to shine like the Australian Olympic Swimmers! Race against the clock! Swim your favourite strokes, to record your Personal Best times. (25m & 50m events for all four competitive strokes)

Thunderbolt is a 19 metre long obstacle course which ends at the deep end (1.8m) of the Main Pool.

• All participants must be competent swimmers and deep water confident.

• All swimmers must be able to swim 25 metres of a survival stroke.

• The use of floatation devices on the inflatable is not permitted.

• Children under 10 years old must be fully supervised by a guardian over the age of 16 years at all times.

This year the wonderful minds and sculptors bringing you ‘Toytopia’ has seen more than 60,000 visitors. flocking to Frankston’s Waterfront to enjoy the Toytopia sand sculptures since the display opened on December 26.

The Sand Sculpting Australia exhibition features 22 sand sculptures of toys from generations past and present.

Free and low-cost activities to amuse children include lessons from a professional sculptor at six free sand sculpting workshops held on Saturdays and Sundays. For $6, youngsters can use their new skills to create sand art or a sand bottle masterpiece to take home.

The interactive, free cirque mystique show runs at 11.30am, 12.15pm, 1.30pm and 2.15pm every Saturday and Sunday.

There is also free face painting and carousal rides, a giant sandpit and little diggers and arcade games from just $2 inside the Sandy Cafe.

Toytopia, which is presented by Frankston Council, is open daily from 10am until April 26.
