Welcome to the Ha'penny Bridge Irish Pub and Restaurant. A place for a good times, great drinks and exceptional food. Our recipes are all homemade, using fresh fruit and vegetables and the finest ingredients, using traditional Irish methods. We have Guiness, Kilkenny, James Squires Amber Ale and Bulmers Ciders on Tap. Whether for an intimate dinner, a celebration with family or just a drink with old friends. Come and join us at Ha'Penny Bridge. Widely accepted as the symbol of Dublin, the Ha'Penny Bridge officially Wellington Bridge, after the "Iron Duke", was opened in 1816. Cast at Coalbrookdale in Shropshire, England, the bridge acquired its unofficial moniker from the toll paid to cross the river, one old half penny. The bridge was the only pedestrian bridge on the Liffey until the new millennium bridge further up, was opened in 2000. The bridge has three lamps supported by curved ironwork over the walkway. In a bad state of repair, the bridge was closed for a major refurbishment in 2001. It was reopened, with its original paint colour and line of the decking restored with changes made at each ends to allow standing room for pedestrians before crossing the road |
