Our Association was formed by a group of local residents to protect the Mornington beaches when a large marina was proposed in 1991. MEA was also involved witht he campaign to stop the development of a shopping centre on the historic Railway Land, Railway House and community carpark.

These and other threats to our local environment underlie our Association's interests and objectives.

Our Aims:
- To work to protect and enhances both the natural and built environment ofhte local area and to preserve the essential seaside character of Mornington, including flora, fauna, the foreshore, public and private land, and the seabed
- To ensure that alterations to the environment protect natural systems
- Where appropriate, to work to support, oppose, or amend development proposals that impact on the natural or human environment
- To cooperate with other organisations with similar goals
